...seven different minor characters each named Thor.

Oh, how I feel that pain. :)

But this isn't specific to fantasy -- it's just a new variety of the "every servant in England has the last name of Grimes" issue from your Regency days.

Now, about those minor characters named Dunne that get a cameo in each book... :-)

Yes, but it's worse in a fantasy series. In a single title you can do a global search for "Grimes" but when you have three volumes you may not remember that book one had "Grimes the spear carrier", when you are cheerfully writing about "Grimes the acolyte" in book three.

I just realized I've twice had minor characters named Van, even though I'd never seen it used until it became my new nephew's middle name.

I'm really liking the book, BTW!

Loved the interview, there were some interesting insights and it explains why TFB is so different from your first trilogy (loved it too, btw). Only something wasn’t quite clear. Are the Chronicles of Josan going to be a duology, a trilogy or a series? If so, how many books are planned?

Glad you liked the interview.

The Chronicles of Josan is planned as three books. I'm finishing up book two, THE SEA CHANGE, right now, and then there will be a final volume, as yet untitled.
