Hi

I found your lj through one of the writing communities recently. They posted about your Top Ten Mistakes, so I friended you to read through them. I'm an aspiring fantasy writer, currently working on getting my work up to publishing quality. (I fear I still have a ways to go, especially with my grammar.)

And I'm also a Farscape fan, so I'll be checking that book out.

Farscape rocked. I miss it, there's just nothing that's come since that has offered that same feeling of excitement.

Hope you found the top 10 list useful. As I said in a post somewhere else in the blogsphere, Jennifer and I learned by doing, so many of the mistakes listed were ones we've made ourselves. Plus, of course, our own early dreadful attempts whichwill never again see the light of day....

I really enjoyed reading the list, it gave explanation to a lot of phrases I see kicked around on writing communities. A lot of people love to use the "Show, don't tell" line without really explaining it. It gives me something to keep in mind when I'm going over my work.

I know what you mean about early attempts being kept carefully hidden away. My first attempt at a "novel" was when I was twelve. I've considered burning it, it's so bad.

Somewhere in the box of treasures saved from my childhood is an attempt at a Star Trek script, written in longhand....
