Holy Foreign Sales, Batgirl!

While looking up info for the new website, I came across a new German edition of Bewitching Kittens, the Halloween-themed Regency that contains my novella Charlotte's Kitten. (Side note: yes, Halloween and Regency England, I was as skeptical as you are when I was given the assignment.)

The English edition of the novella quickly earned out, and though Zebra didn't go back to press, they did sell German language rights. And the German language edition sold well. And kept selling. And they reissued it with new covers, and those editions kept selling. By my count they are on their fourth cover.

Best of all, I do believe that's YOUR kitten on the cover, since yours was the gray kitten climbing the curtains in the original cover.

If every book had a kitten on its cover, we'd all be bestsellers.

And it's Regency stories set around Halloween customs, not anyone's first guess for something that would be a hit in Germany (and Switzerland--one of those covers is from the Swiss edition.)

Our next anthology should have baby animals on the cover, and we'd all be rich.

I wonder how big a hit ZOMBIE KITTENS would be?

It's also hilarious. If I'd ever been asked which of my stories would be a huge hit in Germany, this one wouldn't have been anywhere near the top of that list.
