pbray: (Zombie)

Researchers in Canada have concluded that a zombie attack would lead to the collapse of civilization unless quick and aggressive actions were taken.

In their study, the researchers from the University of Ottawa and Carleton University posed a question: If there was to be a battle between zombies and the living, who would win?

Based on mathematical models they developed, it doesn't look good for humanity.

jpsorrow: Wonder if you could get your math department to sponsor a follow-on study?

I am really glad someone did this research. Just imagine if we had not been warned!

Another reason why I'm glad that the beloved collects swords!

Alas, my fencing skills aren't up to the task. Perhaps I should collect flamethrowers instead.

I would so have loved to be the copy editor for that paper. Clearly STM copy editors are having all the fun, while I'm stuck reading about the copyright law and the Nuremberg Justice Case ::pouts::

(Gotta say, though, if I were Robert Smith? I'd have called myself Psmith or Smith! or something. "Smith?" makes him sound as though he's not really sure whether he's a maths professor or a member of The Cure, and you'd think he'd be able to tell.)

Smith? does seem the ultimate example of the uncertainty principle.

And you totally deserve to copyedit a paper on zombies. Copyright law has been done to (un)death, while zombies are fresh new ground where a firm hand needs to establish precedents!

Oh! That totally explains it. He can tell where he is, ergo he can't tell whether he's a math professor or a rock star. It's obvious once you point it out ;)

The copyright law paper was actually kind of interesting, as such things go: it's the first law-journal paper in which I've ever happened upon the terms fan fiction, The Simpsons, or Ferdinand de Saussure, and certainly the first paper of any sort in which I've seen the three occur together ...

A Zombie President would be hard to get out of office...

If you do the study, can you factor Undead Slayers into the equations? Of course, if you have zombies enough and time, you can overwhelm any Slayer. After all, zombies can afford wait it out. What're they going to do? Die of old age?

I think term limits were implemented to ensure zombie presidents were forced to leave after eight years.

But clearly more research needs to be done. Perhaps field trials....

True. But admit it... for a few months there, you were worried...

Are we ready to progress to field trials? Because I can suggest a few test locations. I'm fairly sure no one's using Elmira much lately;-)

Just think what joy it would bring to our lives if the US government used stimulus money to fund zombie-related research.
