If this works, I'll have crossposted successfully from my Dreamwidth account pbray.dreamwidth.org to my LJ account.

If you have a Dreamdwidth account, please post your account id in a comment so I'll know to friend you. Thanks!

LauraAnne_Gilman, although it's mainly a mirror account right now.

Don't have an account yet, but if you have a spare invite code... *makes anime eyes*

Thanks! I'm using dreamdwidth as a mirror account for now, but you never know.

The cross-posting thing is easier to use than a lot of others I've tried.

I'm inkandneedle, incidentally, and will be reading you over at DW.

Thanks! For now my posts there will be a mirror of my livejournal, but I know some of my friends are making a permanent move.

mizkit, and am rather looking forward to DW's different friends setup so I can get my writer-friends, whom I have friended through cemurphy over here, onto filters so they can read boring personal details about my life that I don't post publically...

:-) I need to play with filters and reading lists to get things set up.

Same user name there as here. I'm keeping here as primary journal, and keeping the other one alive by posting bit of verse caught in my filters.

I'm using it as a mirror for now, but we'll see how it goes down the road.

So, what's with this Dreamwidth thing anyway? I see so many people setting up another blog there. What are the benefits, if I may ask?

It's LJ as designed for adults, not college kids (a 'reading list' rather than a f-list, user supported rather than ad-generating, etc). The creators worked at LJ back in the pre-Six Apart days, and actually listened to all the reasonable complaints about functionality and user-friendliness.

We'll see how it works out in beta, but if they can deliver what they promise, LJ's management may be in for rough days.

I'm cautiously optimistic. I like the folks behind Dreamwidth and their philosophy, and admire the leap of faith they made to start this up, which is why I purchased a paid membership. And the ease of crossposting makes it a no-brainer.
