Early mornings and long days have contributed to significant sleep deprivation over the last week and a half, which naturally explains why I've somehow managed to write over five thousand words on various projects including the WIP and an experimental short story.

As my brain gets fuzzier and fuzzier, to the point where I'm not sure I should be trying to balance a checkbook, what little processing power I have to spare says "Oooh, this is a good time to write! Forget about napping, that's for sissies. Let's make a story!"

I theorize that I'll hit maximum productivity right before the point when I collapse.

It's like a writer version of a singularity.

Eeep! Hope things get better soon.
I suspect the productivity is the direct result of your internal editor having collapsed of exhaustion. Editing is such a left brain activity, the same side you're working to the bone at the office.
Sending good wishes and lots of cyber-caffeine!

I think you're right, it has a lot to do with the internal editor being shut off, so what I wind up typing is pretty much whatever's crossing my brain at the moment.

The short story I was working on morphed into a stream of consciousness thing that isn't at all what I was intending. But there may be something in there, so I've set it aside for a while and will come back to it.
