Dear Retail Establishment,

I have disposable income and a predilection for shiny things. You continually bombard me with catalogs containing witty t-shirts and sweatshirts that I would love to own and wear. However, the fact that you only recognize sizes that begin with medium means that I can't wear your products.

And my sister, who would absolutely adore the "What Would Nancy Drew Do?" sweatshirt CompanyName shows on page 38, is even tinier than I am.

It's not just one catalog, it's all of them, from Wireless and Signals to the Geek catalogs. I understand that the average American is larger than they were 20 years ago, but some of us still need a size small.

Not Love, Patricia

oh HELL yes. I'm 5'4" tall, and yeah I have broad shoulders and an actual ribcage, and wear a size 8, but almost all tees/sweatshirts available -swim- on me (let's leave out convention tees for a moment, that's a whole other rant). My only option is a baby-doll style, and that hugs my ribs TOO tightly.

What's wrong with a Woman's Small, huh?

Are you really only 5'4"? You come across as taller. :)

Huh. I'm also 5'4", but in my mind I'm much taller. Especially when I'm wearing the SUV.

OK, so how come I look so short standing next to you? 'Cos I'm almost 5'4". I mean, menopause, osteopenia, etc., but I haven't shrunk that much.

You must have an aura of tallishness.

Woe to us trying to buy a con T shirt in anything smaller than a large or extra large. Or black. Why are they always black?

And the clearance rack in the store: everything is either a size 4 or a 22.

We need to found our own support group. "Does the World want us Naked?"

Every now and then you can get one of those giant con shirts and use it as a sleep shirt, but I'd rather have a t-shirt I could actually wear in the daytime, you know?

Don't like oversized Ts to sleep in. The necklines are too wide and they fall off the shoulders.

If the T is cute I want to show it off, not hide it under the covers.

A friend is on the concom of Radcon. He had made a hot pink shirt that says "All my black shirts are dirty"

Every summer I volunteer to sell Tshirts at a music festival, and the powers-that-be never seem to order in enough small sizes. A reasonable number of 2XL and 3XL, but very few smalls for women, because they never realize people need that size as well. We get complaints regularly.

You should come shopping up my way, there are PLENTY of itty bitty sizes no one wants around here.
P.S. Please to bring your unwanted inventory of sizes large and tall with you when you come over. ;)

I hear you. I have a drawer full of gigantic t-shirts from fundraising walks, etc., that I never wear because I would look like I escaped from the early 1990s :P

Women's size small still exists up here in Canuckistan, but it's definitely the least popular option for things like con and event t-shirts.
