On Black Friday the extent of my shopping was a trip to the state liquor store to pick up wine to bring to a friend's house. Today I poked around craft stores and galleries, then spent serious time at an indie bookstore where I picked up a bunch of books, some for myself, some to give as Christmas presents.

I saw scenes of Black Friday madness on the news, but frankly I can't comprehend it. There's nothing I need that desperately that I'd willingly subject myself to that chaos. Much better to be home, watching as a light dusting of snow falls, and I contemplate the burning question of whether to have a cold turkey sandwich or a hot one?

If it's snowing, then a hot turkey sandwich is called for :-)

Yah, I don't get Black Friday frenzy either. Black Friday, as a thing, is starting to migrate up here now, too ... although I haven't heard (so far) about anything as bizarre as some of those news stories happening here. (We have our own retail feeding frenzy on Boxing Day, but again, it seems to be less, um, frenzied.)

In more welcome imports, thanks for sending that light dusting of snow up our way! It looked very pretty when I got up this morning :)

as someone who worked 22 black fridays in malls (food court - which was sheer hell because tired, stressed and hungry shoppers - erg; and then stores) - yeah, I don't get it either. What always boggled me is that people would endure the craziness for maybe 1 or 2 items, and then just be you know, out looking. Mostly for themselves.

I just don't like to shop that much, I think.
