The most realistic moment in the movie Hereafter? When the writer opens her wordprocessor, types a few sentences of the book under contract, then launches her browser and begins Googling the new shiny idea.

jpsorrow and I burst out laughing, much to the bemusement of the rest of the theater audience.

Well? What about the rest of it?

It was an interesting movie, but the pacing was slow, and it took too long for the three separate story threads to come together. Other than the opening tsunami scenes, there was very little dramatic tension. I'd characterize it as a quiet, thoughtful movie.

If I'd been in a different mood I might have appreciated it more, but as it was, by the time we'd hit the halfway point I kept leaning over to [livejournal.com profile] jpsorrow and whispering things like "This movie needs a robot."

Bottom line--it's worth seeing, but won't be on my list of the best films of 2010.

A writer must have written that scene! Oh ... wait ... um. Yeah. :)

Truth in movies indeed.
