Odyssey Workshop now online

The Odyssey Workshop is now offering online classes. Unlike most online classes, Odyssey's Online Classes offer live lectures and discussions using Web conferencing software. Click here for details.

It sounds interesting, and a possible alternative for those who can't commit to the six weeks required to attend the in-person workshop.

That is a cool idea.

I know James Gunn has been doing online classes as an alternative to his workshop for a couple of years now. I don't know if he makes with the web cams, though. Just email, I think.

There are many online classes that are done via mailing out lessons and then having students email back their homework or post to a bulletin board. I've even seen a few done via instant message chatting, with varying degrees of success. But to have instructors of this caliber teaching via webconference will indeed be something special.

Not sure I personally need help showing not telling, but I know a lot of people could benefit from this.

Agreed, I think it would be helpful to see a schedule of proposed classes, but likely this first class is a bit of an experiment to see if the format works.

As I said above, I don't think showing v. telling is a weakness for me, but I'm willing to believe I have weaknesses in other areas, and even a proposed schedule would be useful.
