I'm currently reading THE LAST ORACLE by James Rollins. The story touches on "physic spying" a little, although not to the degree of hilarity that this film apparently does.

Apparently the movie is based on a book which was also called THE MEN WHO STARE AT GOATS. It would be interesting to see if the book played it for laughs in the way that the movie seems to be doing.
