Today's mass signing in Poughkeepsie went well, despite Barbara Campbell's mysterious unfortunate absence. The local SF/F writers group showed up en masse, and I discovered a soulmate in Cassie, who shares my admiration for Optimus Prime and a love of forensics.

Store manager Mike Jensen and his staff were great. Traffic in the store was light, in part due to the beautiful weather outside, but we each sold enough books to qualify as a success. All in all a good day, but I'm glad to be home.

Barb had car troubles. Or so she claims. I think she just got a better offer and stood us up. *grin*

I was driving so all I can swear to is that [livejournal.com profile] jpsorrow received a phone call which he said was from Barbara who was having car troubles. Joshua also claimed that the conversation that I overheard about shovels, bodies, tasty brain snacks and alibis was merely plot suggestions for a novel, and had nothing to do with Barbara's disappearance.

Guess I'm just as glad I couldn't make it, then. Who wants to hang out with you, Josh, and Anton?

But I'll follow Barb anywhere.
