not broken

according to the x-rays taken yesterday, my right hand is not in fact broken. however, i have been advised of the important safety tip--

if you are washing an item of heavy crockery and if that item slips do not attempt to catch it, just let it go. since i didn't actually catch it, instead it landed on my hand and smashed that into the stainless steel sink. oops.

hand is still only semi-functional, thus loss of caps key. rest/ice/elevate/tylenol regime and wait a few days to see if it improves. it's not particularly painful but certain motions feel really weird and although visible bruising is minimal there are parts that hurt to touch.

and did i mention that i've just started the busiest time of the month at the dayjob? lots of programs to run, databases to update, and othe misc typing in my future....

Well, it's good that your hand isn't broken, but still -- owww.

Hope it stops feeling weird and starts feeling better soon.

yeah the crockpot liner is fine, but as the nice tech pointed out to me-- cost of new crockpot is significantly less than deductible for doctor's visit, x-rays, etc

I've known people to grab after knives that are dropped... it's not stupidity, it's instinct!!

it's the "if i had a half-second to think about it" reflex. you do it before you think.

Good that it is not broken; but soft tissue injury is still a pain. I hope it feels better soon.

Sympathies. And while there is never a good time for these things to happen, for some inexplicable reason, they do happen at pretty much the worst possible times. You are not alone in that!

Ow. Well, you can archy and mehitabel it.

I've broken 12 bones (it used to be 11, but they found a new one recently.)

Not broken is good, but it can be just as painful.

Thanks! I just wish it was a more glamorous injury-- say like the time I broke my foot in Tae Kwan Do. A dishwashing injury has all the misery and none of the cachet.

See, since most of us don't see you in realspace (I refuse to use that "m" word) all that often, you could have told us that. Or, if you planned to admit to a dishwashing injury, that a glass had shattered, slicing into your palm....
