Weekend wrapup

After the trauma that was shopping for a bridesmaid's dress earlier in the week, on Saturday I treated myself by test driving new cars. I may or may not be in the market for a new car, this was a chance to see what was out there and do some thinking on the subject.
I liked one of the cars better than the other, but preferred the other dealership, so there's something else to toss into the pot. Living where I do, there's usually only one dealership for each manufacturer, so if you don't like the dealership your choices are driving an hour to buy the car somewhere else, or settling for a different brand.
On Sunday I went to see the movie Watchmen. I haven't read the graphic novel, so I know I was missing a lot that fans would have enjoyed. Overall I'd rank it as good but not great, though Big Blue was pretty damn impressive :-)

Date: 2009-03-18 02:05 am (UTC)As for snow, three words. Stability. Traction. Control. Standard. Oops, that's four. The accident that I got into a year ago last December was not only not the TARDIS' fault, when that pickup slammed into it, the TARDIS didn't even slide a tiny bit, despite the roads being very icy. It would, of course, depend on the conditions you were placing it in. One of the disadvantages is that it has a very low clearance (four inches!!!) which makes it slow going on those seasonal/limited use roads in which Upstate NY so delights.
About the Forester, I have to say -- I've know two people who bought one on the grounds it was supposed to be good on snow, and both spun out on very little snow indeed. I don't know the Rav4's snow capability. I would lean toward Toyotas in general, though, so there's a definite bias on my part.
