Well, [livejournal.com profile] jpsorrow and I survived yesterday's brush with fame as we appeared on the local 6PM news.

The good news is that the segment producer Frank Dirig and the anchor Steve Craig were both great, and the station promoed the heck out of Saturday's signing, with loving shots of book covers, and putting up the details front and center on the screen and then on their website.

On the other hand, I had a stunned-ox moment as the interview started off with questions that hadn't been anywhere in the pre-interview prep discussion, followed by random thoughts that sounded like I'd been replaced by one of those Turing test machines. Joshua, who had lost his voice and borrowed one from a nearby frog, came off better. Then again, Joshua is also the one who at the last second told Steve to start with me--next time I'm making Joshua go first.

Oh, yes, and we played the interview straight rather than going for YouTube fame.

That said, if you want to see local writers performing on live TV here's the link. Link now fixed! You have to wait through a commercial and a local news story before our interview is cued up.

And if you want to meet us in person, along with co-conspirators [livejournal.com profile] scbutler and Barbara Campbell, the place to be is Waldenbooks at the Oakdale Mall in Johnson City, NY, from 2PM till 4PM on Saturday (1/17).

It was not a disaster. (Your LJ link is broken by the BTW.) It took me a while to actually see it because of the NewsChannel site, but they did indeed do lots of cover shots and fewer author mugshots, which is always good. And my voice didn't sound too horrible. Overall, it may bring in 1 extra person to the bookstore. *grin*

Nice close-up of the lizard earrings! I thought you sounded a bit confused... although you did a nice job of hitting your bullet points. Kudos to you both.

Yeah, there was definitely a brain processing lag. I heard myself speaking and was thinking "What on earth am I saying?"

But hey, I'd only had 1 day off so far in January, so was understandably brain-fried. Plus I didn't have my pal for rehearsal.

I loved the way the host used a "mysterious tone" when he divulged your "by day" and "by night" activities. Hahahahah!

Great interview. And the books looked marvelous.

"How do you write a book?" In 30 seconds, dude? NO way!

"How do I write a book?" Well, you see, there is this thing called the alphabet which can be assembled into words....

Yeah, not so much.
