Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] jpsorrow for sharing the news that THE FINAL SACRIFICE has been nominated for the first annual David Gemmell Legend Award for Fantasy. Other nominees include Joshua's THE VACANT THRONE, and a host of other great books*.

I'm honored to have one of my books under consideration. David Gemmell was one of the true greats of epic fantasy, and his untimely death was a loss for us all. He's one of the rare authors whose work I enjoy as much today as I did in the 80s when I first discovered him, and his books have a special place on my keepers shelf.

Voting starts on the 26th of December, but you can visit the site today and chat about your favorites via the forums.

*(I started to type in the titles of my favorites and realized that it would take too long, so I wimped out.)

Thanks! It's a very cool idea, and a great way to honor him.

Interestingly enough, I just started reading David Gemmell's Legend last night (right after finishing McKinley's The Blue Sword).

And if one were to see my TBR pile what books are next? Your trilogy, which includes The Final Sacrifice. So, I'll get to read your nominee in the context of having just read Gemmell for the first time.

Congrats on the nomination!

Isn't Legend amazing? There's a reason it's remained in print all these years.

Hope you enjoy my trilogy. Happy Reading!

That's wonderful!

But I have to say it's going to be very hard to cast a vote: so many good books!

An embarassment of riches indeed. I know I'm going to have a hard time picking among them.

Congratulations!

Can I split my vote between you and Josh?

Give it to me and then I'll pass along half to Josh :-)

Seriously, until they put up the actual voting page we won't know if they allow multiple votes. And nominations are being accepted from publishers through November, I believe, so there may be a nominee that we'll all feel compelled to vote for that isn't either Joshua or myself *gasp*
