I have plane tickets for Denvention. This makes it significantly more real.

Flying out a day early so I can spend time with my sister before the convention starts. Tickets weren't cheap, but the only other option was driving up to Syracuse and flying through O'Hare. And honestly, it's worth it to spend the extra bucks to skip O'Hare.

Aww, poor O'Hare...

I will be flying out of O'Hare, but my flight is non-stop, so fingers crossed here's hoping no lost luggage or anything. Flying out on the morning of the 6th. Tried to get a ticket with FF miles, but the only ones offered had multiple stops, so I paid for the ticket, then used miles to upgrade to first class. I have never flown fc, so looking forward to the experience. I had wanted to save that particular upgrade for a longer flight, but I may not be flying anymore this year, so. Took my shot.

Looking forward to mountains.

A direct flight should be fine, and first class will be a nice way to start the trip.

Well, you might have taken two days of rest.... and picked up Amtrak, which avoids O'Hare fer sure. We're going out from Albany, change trains in Chicago, and get into Denver in time for breakfast the day before the con starts.... I agree, it is worth not flying through O'Hare.

Train sounds like fun, but would require more vacation days than I've got. I'll actually be working for the day job while at the con, which does not make me happy....

I don't really like O'Hare, either, so I'm driving to Denver from the Chicago area. Google-maps says it's a 14 hour drive, but that's a little more than I want to do in a single day.

14 hours is a bit much for a single day, and no sense arriving at the con totally exhausted.

Yes, but I'm driving out the weekend before the con. I am staying with the art show director (until Tuesday when my room reservation starts) so I will be available to help set up the art show whenever they get their space. I will have time to relax a little bit before the con starts (maybe).

Sounds like fun. Hopefully the art show set up will leave you some free time to enjoy Denver before the con starts.

I've been stuck there a few time with summer thunderstorms, and am not anxious to repeat the experience. Of course Philly may be equally subject to bad weather, but on the plus side, they have a decent bar if you're ever stuck there for 12 hours.

And the tricky part... aligning the seat reservations for flights booked leaving on different days, and coming back together, booked on different computers, at a slight offset in time. All while Travelocity was trumpeting "Only three seats left" and Expedia had an even more ominous "Only one seat left" warning plastered across the screen.

I'm going out five days in advance, to spend the (long) weekend with my honeybear, before moving to the hotel for the con on Wednesday.

When they publish the schedule, we'll see about getting him a day pass. Maybe when there's a gaming challenge scheduled. ;-)

I may wind up getting a day pass for my sister as well, so she can observe the geeks in their native habitat.
