Saw CLOVERFIELD this weekend--the movie was good but the part where I bounced in my seat and screamed "Yes!" was the preview for IRON MAN. What can I say, I'm a woman of simple tastes.

Made hotel reservations for Worldcon in Denver, and submitted a programming form. Shocked to realize that the last Worldcon I'd been to was Noreascon in 2004. After attending several Worldcons in a row, for the last few years World Fantasy has been more convenient, and I generally stick to one plane flight con a year.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] mcurry's post I remembered I needed to get tickets for Lunasa when they're in Binghamton, so accomplished that as well.

It's BRRR! cold here, with windchill of OMG! so naturally I went out for my customary half-hour walk at lunchtime. I can't tell if this is a sign that I'm stubborn, or simply that I'm too lazy to change my habits.

Lunasa is an Irish folk group. They're playing across the street from you at Nighteagle on Sunday March 9th. Wanna come?

You can hear clips of them if you go to their website here http://www.lunasa.ie/home.php (http://www.lunasa.ie/home.php), or by going to Amazon.Com or BN.COM.

Oh, you guys have that weather too, huh? Beautiful day here today, though -- sunny, blue sky, the whole megillah. We had the windchill of OMG! (or possibly even OMFG!!!) yesterday; 'twas better today.

Mind you, in the afternoon the sun coming in my office window combined with the long underwear and extra shirt I wore so as not to freeze to death on the way to work to turn the place into a computer-equipped sauna ... it's always something :P

You were okay with the camerawork in Cloverfield? I've read at least two "had to walk out before the theatre became a vomitorium" reviews...

I saw those reviews too and was surprised. Yes the opening scenes had camera work that reminded me of the worst family home movies, but just like watching those movies, I quickly looked away when it was dizzying, and glanced back when the camera work steadied, and I was fine.

Maybe I'm more motion sensitive than visually sensitive to these things, or maybe I'm just so sensitive that I know that I can't expect to keep my eyes glued to the screen at all times, and thus avoided the worst of it.
