Last night [livejournal.com profile] fireun along with Corey and his fiancee [livejournal.com profile] sweetsarcasm13 joined Amy, [livejournal.com profile] jpsorrow and myself at [livejournal.com profile] jennifer_dunne's for our weekly gathering. There were at least five writers in the group, so naturally instead of talking shop we drank, played the Pirates of the Carribean version of Life and competed to see who could say the most outrageous things to set off the yeepster.

Much hilarity ensued--the only book related discussion was birthday girl [livejournal.com profile] fireun lamenting the hours of sleep she'd lost because I'd introduced her to [livejournal.com profile] kristine_smith's Jani Kilian series. Hee!

We were all grateful that there were neither webcams nor recording devices. When we're writing about these times in our memoirs, I'm sure we'll make it sound as if we were the spiritual heirs of the Inklings, rather than miscreants who met in our member's homes because no decent pub would have us :-)

Heehee. Probably your rememberance of the college years will be full of learning and quiet nights in the library, right? ;)

Sounds like fun. Nothing's better than cutting loose with some friends.

Just pencil in nights spent at the computer center for library, and you're right on target!

*shakes fist* i got home from the pub and went back to reading book three. no sleep for me until the series has been defeated! and i have made everyone i know read it.

the yeepster is mighty when contained in a small room. i had no idea.

Imagine the yeepster in a small vehicle. First time it happened, I rolled down the windows and made her stick her head out.

it is a stunning series. you have an amazing set of characters, a fantastically twisty plot...i was snagged immediately. and i lovelovelove the world build. i love the cultures and alien social science lesson sort of feel some of the scenes have... i even love not trusting Lucien and trying hard (and failing) to dislike John. thank you SO much for writing such an enthralling series! been singing your praise all over the sales floor at work.

I'm glad to see someone give John a break. I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of times anyone has said that they even halfway like him.

Lucien, otoh, could start his own fan club...

i rather like John, for all his faults. he...grew on me. rather fast. not a character i would have ever thought to find almost endearing. unless he pulls some shit at the very end *narrows eyes at you* i think i will continue to look for scenes involving him.

Lucien, on the other hand, while fun, is not a character i have had the slightest bought of sincere emotion over. i swear i went to school with his clone. it makes me want to do awful things unto the character's person.

why yes, i do get rather involved in books i like.
and i rarely get to chatter at the people what are responsible for them. *grin*

btw, do you know if Code of Conduct and Rules of Conflict are in print? i cant get them into the store. the others, yes. the first two, no. makes it damn hard to use them as staff picks.

To the best of my knowledge, both are still in print. Amazon can get hold of them, and B&N, although sometimes I see the "currently unavailable" notice and panic.

It may have to do with the distributor. Some have an easier time getting hold of the books than others. If you want, I can ask my editor the status?

i will see what i can dig up from my end. the computer only auto checks a few vendors. someone else might have it. i hope. i got endgame with no problem, it being new and all. and contact imminent with no problem. came in in about three days. but the first few i had to go to amazon. which is fine, i have blogged about them and linked the blog entry to amazon. i just wont be able to do my usual song and dance at work

done with book three. still a John Shroud fan. i think i like John enough to be cranky with Lucien much of the time. on to book four! its 8 hours until i have to be up for work. there's time to get a little more reading done...
