Been a busy week here--at the day job it's end of quarter madness, and since they've entrusted me with the keys to the systems, it falls upon me to help ensure that the databases are up and running. Should I screw up, there's a sizable number of folks who'd be dead in the water until we restored from the previous night's backups, giving them plenty of time to fashion Patricia-dolls and stick pins in them.

The weather here continues to be unseasonably warm--the heat is off, the dehumidifier in the basement is back on, and the windows are open at night in order to cool the house down. Luckily I hadn't packed away my summer clothes, since that's what I've been wearing this week.

Which makes it hard to remember that we're already in October. WFC is now less than four weeks away, and there's a whole host of things I want to accomplish before then, and I still need to make the beer buying run. But at least I know I'll be stylishly dressed, since Jennifer has designed an incredible t-shirt for the zombie hosts.

Now off to see if the database job has finished, and then to harass [livejournal.com profile] jpsorrow at his booksigning.

Wish I were there to harass him too. We could distract him by throwing Hershey kisses from the back row.

Mmmm.... World Fantasy....

Mmmmm.... edible t-shire. Oh, wait...

I'm actually glad of the unseasonably warm weather, since my front door is ill.

Hope it feels better soon :-) At some point, autumn will have to return.

It was so hot last night the chocolate would have melted! Come to think of it, that would have been an even better distraction....

This is a spooky coincidence, since I've just done a link to a zombie song on YouTube... Excellent t-shirt *g*

And it's warm over here, too, for October. Not quite windows-open (even in the day) but not as chilly as it was yesterday.

You might have the title of a hit song there...

Heh. Last year, my mother sent me something she'd found online. A list of temperatures...
it started with,
40 degrees Farenheit -- People in Upstate New York drive with the windows down
and ended with,
Hell Freezes Over -- People in Upstate New York start asking, "Cold enough for you?"

I'm afraid the time has come to start sacrificing chickens. And not just the KFC bucket--we need the real thing.

But in Ancient Times, the priests got to eat the sacrifices!

Alas, the only Kentucky Fried Chicken in my county has been itself sacrificed to make way for Progress. So we'll have to do it the old fashioned way. I'll nominate my cat to assist. He caught a rabbit once, I'm sure he can handle a chicken.
