Trees died for me
Aug. 8th, 2007 08:27 amAfter completing a book I experience a period of euphoria ("Yay, it's done!") which is almost immediately followed by book-hate. With zero emotional distance from the project, each flaw looms large in my mind's eye, and I am filled with self-loathing.
Therefore I'm surprised to find large chunks of the manuscript don't suck. There are parts that I really like, and whole sections that are competently written. Not sure if I'm passing through the post-novel stages more quickly than usual, or if this is the cumulative effect of sleep deprivation.
In other news, the bike trip is rapidly approaching and I need to get ready, so don't be surprised when I disappear from LJ for a while. When I get back later this month, I'll hopefully be recharged, and will have an entirely new project to begin talking about.
