Came home tonight to find that they've canceled the conversational Spanish class that was supposed to start tomorrow night.

Very cranky--I've been trying to fit a Spanish class in to my schedule for a while, and this Community Education class was the first thing that worked. Now I'll have to wait until summer to see if there's anything offered.

Grr.

To add insult to injury, the campus bookstore is on limited hours so yesterday I had to leave work to make a special trip to pick up the required textbook. Now I'll have to take time out of another work day to return it, or just keep it as a souvenir and write off the $17.50. (For the record, it's a fairly lame text, primarily lists of vocabulary).

Sigh. I'd really like to brush up on my Spanish (last studied in high school), but so far no luck. The "listen & learn" CDs drive me nuts, but that may be my only option.

I have a friend that borrowed an audio book on Italian from the library. One week later, she was speaking it very well. I've been toying with the idea for Spanish, since I'm also wishing to brush up. Maybe this is an idea you ought to try. She ran it while she was commuting to work and cooking meals. Of course, I can't tell how fluent she really is since I don't speak Italian, but she sounds convincing.

Thanks, sounds like its worth a try.

My commute is only 5 minutes, so I'm generally terrible at setting aside time to listen to anything on tape or CD. I was hoping that a regularly scheduled class would force me to commit time to study, but that idea obviously isn't working either.
