Here's the cover for the new book:

Cover art for The Sea Change by Patricia Bray.

It's a fantastic cover. The scan makes it appear a little darker than it is--someday if I have time I'll play around with things to lighten it up. The ship is entirely wrong, of course, but that's a nitpick.

Now all I have to do is finish the revisions so Bantam has something to stick inside it.

Very moody looking cover.

Who is the artist?

Steve Stone, who also did the art for The First Betrayal.

Looks like a Stone cover.

It's a thrill to get your cover as you finish up an ms. Always makes me think of the exchange from Ed Wood.

"Is there a script?"
"F--- no! But, there's a poster. Opens in nine weeks in Tulsa."

Now I just have to make the inside dark enough to match the cover :-)

That's *exactly* the issue I faced. According to my editor, I did it.

Congrats on embracing the dark side. When I see you at Wiscon, we'll have to trade war stories.

Thanks so much. The art department at Bantam is fantastic-- as is the artist Steve Stone who did this cover and the cover for The First Betrayal.

I've been really happy with all of the covers that Bantam has done for me.

I like what you did with the head shot as icon. I've asked Chris McGrath if I can do the same with the ENDGAME image.

That head shot is on the spine of the book, which is a very cool effect. You can see the full cover here. (http://pics.livejournal.com/pbray/pic/0000f1ae/g2)

I had an LJ icon for the earlier book which was just the front cover shrunk down to 100 pixel size, but for this book there's not a strong enough contrast to keep the typeface readable, so I'm going with the headshot instead.

*glee*

I was WONDERING when you were going to get around to the sequel, then I remembered I read First Betrayal on vacation in June last year, so it hasn;t been as long as I thought. I am eagerly waiting...

Very nice cover 0-- such a nice contrast to the last one, it fits nicely with where the last book left off!

Thanks! Writing book two took longer than either Bantam or I wanted, but now it's just down to the revisions....
