Now with improved vertical hold
Jan. 16th, 2011 07:53 pmWe've had just enough snow here for the county to open up Greenwood Park for cross-country skiing, so I went out this morning. I was a bit rusty but nonetheless managed to do a few loops without falling or otherwise embarassing myself. Since even in the winters when I was out every weekend I had a tendency to fall victim to snow snakes, remaining upright was indeed a victory.
Out of an excess of caution I wore the ankle brace. My ankle is tired, but I don't seem to have strained it or damaged it. For those keeping score at home, this is six months since the original injury. I'm now hoping to be back to "normal" within a year.
After I cleaned up, I went in search of food, and critiqued a bunch of pages while sitting at the Cybercafe. Returning home I did laundry and made a big batch of Moros y Cristianos (Spanish version of Black Beans and Rice.) According to the notes that came with the recipe, the beans represent the Moors while the rice represents the Christians, so I suppose the red pepper and tomato must represent bloodshed. In any case, the recipe turned out well, so it's going in to the rotation.
And that's all. There's just enough time to do a little websurfing and catch a little TV, and then it will be time to get ready for the work week.
