Somebody up there likes me
Dec. 19th, 2008 05:01 pmIt wasn't snowing here when I got up, so I decided to go in to the office today for a half day, mostly so I could meet up with a friend for lunch before we both took off for the holidays. By noon when we went to lunch it was snowing hard & fast, and by the time I was driving home it was already treacherous.
As I turned onto my street I saw the oncoming snowplow at the other end of the block, and through great good fortune managed to turn into my driveway moments before he came by and plowed me in.
Then, in the evening, as the snow took a break, I made myself a cup of tea and decided that as soon as I finished it I would go out and shovel. Before the tea was cool enough to drink my doorbell rang--
And there was a guy with a shovel trying to earn money for Christmas. No fool I, I said "Yes, please," and retired to the comfy chair to sip tea.
The only fly in the ointment is the cancelation of tonight's holiday party at the gym--I was going as
jpsorrow's date :-) But hopefully we'll be able to get together later this weekend.
