Writing: 1,343 words today. Not great, but managed to push past the distractions.
Reading: Finished Rob Thurman's Nightlife, which I thoroughly enjoyed. At one point I was honestly concerned as to whether or not the protagonist would survive, which is quite a feat for a book written in first person.
Watching: Saw the new Doctor Who on the Sci-Fi channel last night. My reaction was mixed--the opening theme song brought back memories, as did the sight of the familiar blue police box. But in other ways I felt disconnected from the two episodes they showed. My Doctor Who fan years were the Tom Baker years (the fourth Doctor), and there have been several Doctors who came afterwards. So even as I was watching I was trying to piece together clues as to what might have happened to turn "The Doctor" into the man I now saw. If I had come to the series fresh, with no preconceived ideas about who The Doctor was, or what his backstory might be, I would have had an entirely different experience. I'll tune in again next week, but still too soon to tell if I'll be a fan of the new series or not.
Saint Paddy's day recap: Met friends last night after work for our monthly get together. In honor of the day I ordered a pint of Guinness which arrived with a lovely green shamrock drawn in the foam. It was quite pretty but after several sips when I opened my mouth to say something my companions burst out laughing. Turns out the shamrock had been drawn with food coloring and my teeth had turned bright green.
