pbray: (Darth Tater)
Working from home today as I wait for the furnace tech to come by and clean the furnace, an appointment that has been repeatedly rescheduled due to earlier travels.

This meant I was here when the delivery guy dropped off the copyedits for THE FIRST BETRAYAL, which is good since I had visions of them getting soaked in the rain that we're expecting.

In random news I see Amazon.Com has another new feature, a "Productwiki" that they've added to their book listings. It's described as "customer-editable product information" which could be a good way to share information on books, or yet another way for trolls to gleefully fling trash, spoilers, and misinformation. I checked a handful of titles but the wikis for them were all blank, so guess we'll have to wait and see how this gets used.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, it's so windy here today that I feel the urge to look under my house for protruding feet....

ETA: Now I like socks, but even I find this odd...
Today's Wall Street Journal reported that the Sci Fi Channel is starting a $10 million marketing campaign for their Bermuda Triangle miniseries "The Triangle" debuting December 5.

"In keeping with the mystery at the heart of the show, the centerpiece of the campaign involved scattering black socks at gyms and Laundromats across the country.

"The socks, some 100,000 in total, won't come as a pair. Instead, employees at gyms and Laundromats will drop a single sock into lockers and laundry baskets. When people return to their clothes, they will find an errant sock emblazoned with the marketing message 'nothing stays lost forever' and the address for the show's Web site."
