What's happening?
Apr. 18th, 2005 11:14 amContinuing the theme of mid-book blahs, I looked over the outline this morning to get a feel for what I had written over the weekend and what I should work on next.
Turns out that I do need the scene with the viewpoint character I've been avoiding, but I found a perfect spot to tuck it in.
In the pre-caffeine stage I thought Bah! This book is too slow, nothing has happened, and the readers will have all wandered off to find a better way to fill their time.
Then I looked at the outline. Let's see, there's been a hurricane, attempted assassination, shipwreck, kidnapping, two murders and a cold-blooded execution. Not to mention main characters are fleeing for their lives, and the second set of viewpoint characters were last seen in a basement plotting the overthrow of the Empress.
Hmm, guess it isn't boring after all. :-)
