Busy weekend. Went in to work at day job this morning, so I'd have a halfway decent chance of starting the week only slightly behind instead of massively behind.

Spent frustrating afternoon. Went to two different bookstores fully prepared to spend money, and walked out with nothing.

Bookstore one was a mall store. Recent makeover of the store has resulted in the slender stock becoming even more incomprehensible. Lots of manga, but history and travel sections have virtually disappeared. Recent SF titles are a hit or miss proposition. They only get a couple of copies in, and they don't restock.

Bookstore two was a Barnes & Noble superstore. Went to buy a DVD, but they didn't have it in stock. Went to look at history books, but nothing of interest. Figured they'd have at least one decent book on ships somewhere, but nothing to be found in history, nothing in transportation. Didn't have new stock out on shelves yet. Struck out all around, left cranky.

I'm trying to support my local brick and mortar stores, but tomorrow I'll wind up hopping on the internet to order what I want. After all, once I order the DVD, I might as well pile it on to get the free shipping....

Writing: 2,327 words today. The final scene of the chapter is a little talky, but I was trying to finish before dinner with predictable results. Not bad for a first draft, but didn't leave me with the "Yes! I've nailed it!" feeling that I had with the earlier scene.

Hee hee. Had an e-mail from a fan who admired the sword on the cover of Devlin's Luck and wanted to know what the runes said.

Do I write her back and admit that the runes were the invention of the cover artist? I've since come up with the theory that they say "Mmmmm. Tastes like chicken" but I doubt that's what she's expecting to hear....
