CNN hates me
Jan. 20th, 2005 09:44 amI'm going to Arisia in Boston this weekend. So naturally, when I get home last night and turn on Headline News, what do I see? The story on the hunt for four people who may have entered the country illegally and may be planning some type of terror attack in Boston.
And, of course, I tune in right as they do the live interview with the reporter from Boston who is speculating about nuclear attacks, involvement of Iraqis, and the CNN anchor keeps breaking in to say CNN isn't reporting these unconfirmed rumors, but the reporter keeps speculating away, to get the maximum Chicken Little effect.
Being me, and having an addiction to the science and history channels, I'm the kind of person who knew about the threat from mega-tsunamis before December 26th. In a similar vein I'm also aware of several terrorist and/or accidental disaster scenarios involving Boston, including the possibilities associated with the LNG tanker traffic.
All of this information is great fuel for writing, but sometimes ignorance is bliss.
