Good news: Despite heavy rain yesterday afternoon and overnight (record rainfall in 24 hour period), my basement is mostly dry as of this morning, with only a couple of small puddles.

Bad news: State of emergency here and in the surrounding counties, due to record flooding. This record flooding is expected to exceed last year's record flooding, with local rivers cresting at 2x flood stage.

My Mom (Delaware county) was telling me that there were curfews on certain roads, no one allowed on them after a certain time. Sounds intense--hope you stay dry!

Mom suddenly doesn't seem to mind that she's in Vegas for a conference for the week. :-)

Yes, she should be glad she's missing this. Delaware County looks like it was hit pretty hard. Luckily the rivers are cresting today/early tomorrow so things should start drying out.

Hey, how's your Mom doing? Has she heard anything about how things are back home? Delaware county is still in pretty bad shape according to the latest news reports.

It sounds like her house is fine, but between there and Albany airport is an awful lot of water. She's flying back to Albany tonight--worst case, she stays with my sister there a few days rather than heading right home. (Kind of hoping she does this, actually. She is planning to stay in Albany at least the night she gets in, rather than drive home in the dark.)

Was looking at the local paper last night. Not used to seeing places like Oneonta and Walton talking about states of emergency!

Glad to hear that her house is okay. She's smart to plan on staying at least overnight--there are so many detours that she'll want to be wide awake to deal with them.

Very strange to see all the local places in the news. Never a good sign when the Weather Channel starts off their storm coverage by mentioning your hometown....

I was just thinking how it's never good to be the top weather story in the nation! (I think everyplace I've ever lived has been, at one point or another ...)

At least you're okay though!!! And may all your local rivers recede quickly.

My work has a branch in Binghamton, and we heard that all the employees were sent home this morning. Glad you're OK!
