Well, not really. But I have finished this morning's database loads, and am taking a coffee break. Tomorrow is the last day of this insane schedule... until it comes time to do this all over again in March.

Snowing here--we've been too far inland for the big storms that hit the East coast, but this time the weather peeps swear we'll get something in the 5"-8" range. Waiting to see how it unfolds, and will likely wind up working from home for the entire day.

Managed to cram in writing in the last two days, adding another 4K words to the new project. It's still in the New! Shiny! Exciting! stage, so I'm taking advantage of that while I can. Can't tell yet if this is a commercially viable project, but it's fun, and fun is something I need right now.

I think we need to set up a work-at-home-snowbound video conference write-in session.

Or maybe just blog/Tweet a lot.

Now I want a screensaver of a watercooler. It just needs to burr-rrup every so often...

I feel your pain. I'll trade you database work for IT security audit self assessments....

Ewww, security self-assessments are nasty. You can keep them!

Snowpocalypse Now

It's still snowing heavily here. We're past the 5" mark -- probably going to pass it by quite a bit. I did not go to work today because right when I was waking up, I heard the fire siren.

When I had my accident (12/17/08), I heard the siren as I was digging the car out. I'd always used it as my barometer for how bad the roads were, but on that day I shrugged and thought, "I've got traction control, a low-slung car and good tires..." What I forgot to take into account was that there would be people on the road who had none of those things. So even though it's not that much snow yet, I didn't risk it.

You are a wise woman--it's the other morons who are the danger.

We got somewhere between 6 and 8 inches. Neighborhood kids came by to shovel mid-afternoon just as I was getting ready to go out myself. I thought I'd need to do another round this morning, but all we got was a light dusting.
