In today's creepy news category an article on body snatching which includes the lovely tidbit that among the bodies that were "looted" (their term, not mine) was the body of Alistair Cooke, best known as the host of Masterpiece Theatre.

Bizarre doesn't even begin to cover this.

Tree update: Tree was successfully trimmed yesterday, and this morning they came by to clean up. While the contractor was in my house yesterday he'd admired the (nearly) life-sized cardboard Aragorn that guards my bookcases, confessing that he was a huge LoTR fan. So this morning, after I wrote the check, I gave him a copy of DEVLIN'S LUCK.

He thanked me for the book, and then he had one of those V-8 moments as he looked at the name on the cover and then looked back at me. "That's my other job," I told him. "I think you'll like it." Totally stunned, he managed to mumble "Thanks" again, and then wandered outside to show it off to his crew.

Reading: Finished RAVEN'S STRIKE by Patricia Briggs this morning. Embarrassed to admit this is the first complete novel I've finished in 2006. I remember a time when my reading pace was books per week rather than weeks per book.

Way Creepy!!!

Do you know the British "folklore" about Burke & Herr -- they were body snatchers way back when & umm, this sounds like they are back from the dead. Ugh!!!

Glad to know other people find they can't keep up with their reading & their writing.

& I should introduce myself. I've been watching your blog for awhile, but don't think I've actually made a peep yet. I've run into you at WFC & I think Wiscon too. I'm a Writer-in-Progress (ha ha you know what I mean) and am editing a YA fantasy novel right now. Live in MN, um, love your tree trimmer guy story.

*Waves Hi!*

I've heard of them from back in my days researching Regency & Victorian England. Disturbing to realize that their spiritual descendants are still in business today.
