Sent to me by Nick, a fellow history buff.

1- Go to www.google.com

2- Type in "french military victories" ...without the quotes.

3- Instead of hitting "Search" hit "I'm feeling Lucky" (the 2 boxes are
side-by-side).

Enjoy. Pass it on to a friend, before Google fixes it.

No, not that kind of coke. Vanilla Coke. Wait, that's not much better. Vanilla Coca-Cola.

Anyway, I don't know if you also hit the "Did you mean . . ." link that comes up, but it's an updated list of the one you emailed before. Much more complete.

I'm sure you clicked on it.

It's a fake , (but clever)

Spoilers

If you look closely at the page it is not on google, but a page elsewhere mocked up to look like a google page.

I'm a tad confused by what you meant. The original search is from google, it's not a google spoof site. You can get to it yourself by just going to google from your browser and repeating the experiment.

What happens when you click the "Did you mean" link is unusual in that rather than repeating the search it takes you directly to another page, but I have seen that happen with other searches in Google, though it's extremely rare. I suspect hardcoding by someone at Google with a sense of humor.

It is hardcoding, but not at google.

Sorry, I didn't explain it very well. Go back and look at the url showing on the "did you mean?" page you get when you hit the "I'm feeling lucky." with french military victories

That page is located at:
http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/text/victories.html
not on google. Read the whole page, it says right on it that it's a parody.

"I'm feeling lucky" takes you directly to the top site (e.g. Patricia Bray & the I'm feeling lucky button takes people to your AOL site.)

The parody site ranks on top because the formal title of the page is "French military victories" and probably some subtle linking done pointing to it by other pages maintained by the hoaxers/parody people.
