that part of being a published writer would involve searching the internet for a good price on metallic vinyl lizards. The things I do for my craft.

In other writing news, thanks to kaygo for the reminder that National Novel Writing Month is rapidly approaching. I know people who swear by this as a way to get their writing kick-started. Every year I think about it, but November is never a good time for me. This year I've got WFC and an out of town business trip in the first two weeks of November. But I'll see what I can get done with the rest of the month.

ETA: Yes, it's currently snowing here. On October 25th. Enough said.

Well, the good news is that much shopping and many eateries are to be found within walking distance of the Concourse, which is about a half a block or so off State Street, the walking street that stretches from the UW campus to the Capitol building. The Concourse is off the Capitol end of the street. I'm guessing it's about a mile or less to campus.

I've only been going there for Wiscon for ten years now. You'd think I'd know the distance.

Anyway, there's a big REI-type store near the hotel where warm weather stuff can be got in emergencies, as well as campus stores for sweat shirts and such. A GAP and a Lands End Outlet.

But seeing where you live, you probably have all the gear you need. it's just a question of packing it.

I wish I lived close enough to drive. It's so much easier to go to a con when you can bring along that extra duffel bag or box of promo material, and don't have to figure out how you're going to get all those books you purchased in the dealer's room back on the plane.

Madison does sound like it will be a fun place to walk around, assuming the weather is at least semi-cooperative. Cold I don't mind, but rain tends to put a damper on my enthusiasm for exploring.
