Manga makeover for Nancy Drew and friends

pbrayThe first Nancy Drew graphic novel has been released http://www.usatoday.com/life/books/news/2005-04-18-nancy-drew_x.htm. The Hardy Boys are also being given the manga treatment.
The relentless updating of the series has produced such gems as:
Nancy: "Doesn't anything need to be plugged in anymore?"
George: "Ha! Between the wifi and cell phone dial-up on my new tablet PC, I could surf the net on the moon."
This just seems wrong. Which is also the same reaction I had to the extreme makeover of Bugs Bunny and pals.
