I want a special "opt-in with prejudice" option, where I opt-in but also reserve the right to drop by Google's headquarters at any time and take home anything I can carry off.

Sound like a plan?

That sounds like an excellent plan.
I have non-fiction that they may claim simply because some US bookshops imported it and it is thus in some academic libraries. My UK writers' organisation is advising opt in for now and watch closely (as there is as yet no ruling over here on the issue). Sfwa say opt out.
Bah humbug...

Brilliant - can I join too?
(Though to be absolutely fair you should perhaps add "provided no-one's actually using it at the time", and that as part of the settlement Google shall waive any claims against you at law...)

Can I opt into your New Deal? Could use a couple of servers or somesuch... Maybe.

As far as Words Not Yet Written (hereafter referred to as WNYW) WNYW are solely the property of Google, Inc, and any author so foolish as to claim WNYW as their own intellectual property will immediately be Googlebombed in such a way as to make the famous "Miserable Failure" Googlebomb look like a kindness.

If they don't specifically object beforehand, it should all be yours for the taking!

Or just to hang out in their offices at will to take advantage of the gym, gaming equipment, work environment and free food.
