Technically I can sew, but....

I was amused by all the comments on my last post regarding the pants that need to be shortened, and pleased to see that virtually all of you knew that if I tried to wear them without hemming I was likely to injure myself. My preferred option would be to have a tailor hem them, but there's a minimum week turnaround and I can't wait that long.

I know how to sew, but blind hemming is a pain, especially on this type of lightweight fabric. That said, it's needle and thread time rather than hem tape. Hopefully I'll be able to get away with using the existing hem as a baseline and doubling it up. Anything more complicated is going to make me cranky.

Of course estimating proper hem length is tricky in a house where the only mirror is on the cabinet above the bathroom sink, but if I use existing pants as a baseline I should be okay. Hopefully.

I realized I need my pants shortened - I mean really, I just need new pants. These are just too big for me (hence, why they need to be shortened). And they are so washed, they are Not Quite Black anymore.

But since I hope to loose more weight, I am loathe to buy more clothes.

But I hate hemming as well. So I have just been rolling them up at the waistband. Not fashionable, but fairly effective =-)

Most of what I wear isn't a problem-- I normally wear chinos, khakis or jeans, all of which come in a wide variety of lengths. But dress slacks are a pain, and I'm sincerely glad that they are no longer part of my every day business wardrobe.

And let's not even think about skirts.

oh skirts are easy for me - i look for minis. Woila! Decent, work-appropriate length skirt!

(I try not to think about that too much, actually. Its sort of depressing)
