Planning for WFC has consisted of confirming registration, hotel room arrangements, driving route, and figuring out where to eat/drink. I note with pleasure that there is a microbrewery less than 1/2 mile from our hotel offering up German style beers.

Now I just need to figure out a strategy for meeting up with everyone. Plan A is to make arrangements ahead of time and swap cell phone numbers. Plan B is to arrive on Thursday, seize the spot in the hotel bar that gives me the best view of passersby, and not leave until Sunday.

Glad to hear you will be at WFC! So, what's the name of the microbrewery?

Gordon Biersch. They claim to have the best beer in Columbus.

There's also Schmidt's for German food. I've never eaten there, but I know it's got a good reputation.

Wouldn't Plan B interfere with the microbrew acquisition?

Thus you can see my dilemma! I would need minions to fetch me growlers of microbrews....

I am so bummed that you won't be there. I'll have 2 for you. Or maybe 3....

That brew pup/microbrewery sounded really good, too.

I bought some Guinness the other day. First time in ages. Mistake. Damn, that mass-produced stuff is watery.

Finding good places to have beer is one of my talents. I know many in NYC. Also a really cool scotch bar where the single malt menu goes on for pages....

I won't have a cell phone but am staying in the con hotel, so will get messages, and will be arriving on Thursday (room will be under Nanson).

I generally go with the second option, but I'm a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants gal like that.

Excellent. We can go forth and hunt the fatted ale.

One of the best WFC's I ever had was in Madison, where I did exactly that.
