There's nothing like living in an episode of Criminal Minds--just credit me as an extra for the crowd scene as the BAU arrives in town--

Press & Sun-Bulletin, April 6, 2009
BINGHAMTON — FBI experts are due in Binghamton on Tuesday to analyze a rambling letter that appears to have been mailed by a Broome County man before he went on a killing spree Friday.

Police sent a copy of the letter to the FBI Behavioral Analysis Unit in Virginia. Some agents in that unit, who will head to Binghamton on Tuesday, worked on the 2008 shooting rampage that killed 32 people at Virginia Tech.

I promise to stop blogging about this soon, and return to the normal program of writing, books, zombies and the odd discourse on biking or cooking.

It's a horrible situation (I live in the Buffalo area, so we've been seeing quite a bit about it on the news here, too), and I don't blame you for needing to write about it. Yesterday I read a newspaper article about some of the victims, why they were attending the class, and what their dreams were, and it made my heart hurt.

Not biking yet, but they've started sweeping the winter crap off the streets so I hope to get out on the bike soon (assuming my right hand gets with the program.)

Writing is slow and frustrating, which is pretty much par for the course when I get busy at work :-)

It's okay to use your blog to work your feelings out, though.

I find I still can't get my mind around it, quite.

Have you tried a drugstore-type splint for your hand? It might help immensely. You would want small. They will try to sell you a medium. The measurement is jut below he bump in your wrist, though, not on it.

Might make both writing and riding easier.

I actually own a wrist brace and thought about using it, but the problem is that I can't bear any pressure on the top of my hand (at the worst point I couldn't even touch it) so using the brace is out.

It seems to be getting better, though, so I'm hopeful.

Toured Tiger Balm Gardens in Singapore, back in the early '80s. Neat. There is one in Hong Kong as well, but never got to it when I was there.

My sister toured the one in Singapore in the early '80s, also. (She was on her way home from being an exchange student to Thailand.)

I think there might be one in Florida now, too.

Some years back, I fell and got all bruised up. (Okay, I do that all the time.) But in this particular case, Tiger Balm saved me.

I wonder if all three of you were there at the same time?

This would have been, I think, in August of 1983? (It was the summer I was 15, she would have been 17..)
