Great vacation conspiracy

Obviously I've offended one of the gods. Possibly all of them.

The original vacation plan was a September bike trip to the Santa Fe/Taos area of New Mexico. Then last month the tour company canceled the trip due to low enrollment. No worries, after much deliberation we decided to still travel the same week, only we'd do the lower impact Outer Banks trip instead.

The Outer Banks, including Ocracoke and Hatteras island. Which have been evacuated due to Hurricane Earl.

Luckily we're not leaving this weekend, so if the impact is minor, there will be time for everything to get cleaned up. But given the way my luck has been running this summer, I'm expecting a Cat4 to make a direct hit.

I'll be keeping a close eye on the weather forecast, to see if I owe the folks of the Outer Banks an apology for inflicting my curse upon them....

Well, whatever happens, happens. If it comes to it, we have trip insurance that will cover us if the trip is canceled.

I love visiting the Outer Banks, but I'm always mindful that these are barrier islands, and hurricanes come with the territory.
