ROAD TRIP!

Yesterday a friend asked if I'd be interested in a trip to Boston--he wants to go visit his niece at college, but would rather not make the 6 hour drive by himself. I told him I'd be interested, if we could figure out mutually convenient dates.

Then I went home and found this in my mailbox CSI: The Experience at the Boston Museum of Science, through January 1st.

Needless to say, a road trip to Boston has moved from "maybe" to "MUST GO!"

Just as soon as I get through World Fantasy.

And finish the revisions for THE FINAL SACRIFICE.

Six hours? Do you go through Albany? How long does it take to drive to Albany?

Yes, through Albany. It's a bit over 300 miles from here to downtown Boston. Albany is about 150 miles, so roughly half way.

You can make the trip to Boston in 5 hours if there's no traffic, but depending on time of day, getting around/through Albany is slow, and usually I stop for a break in western Mass. Then, of course, the last few miles into Boston can be fun.

Boston?

Cool, I may do that.

Still trying to work out dates. Logistics are complicated when you're looking at two professionals with previously scheduled commitments trying to find a mutually convenient date with a college sophomore :-)

My world fantasy schedule goes something like this:

Monday: Get up and drive husband to airport.
Tuesday and Wednesday: Pack, endlessly worrying that husband won't fly home in time.
Thursday: Put kid on bus, HOPEFULLY pick up husband at airport, drop him at home before kid returns from school, start driving.

I've made the trip from NYC a million times. Just love those last few miles. Shortest I've ever done is just over three hours. The longest is eight. (With all the extra beyond Hartford, otherwise I would have turned around and gone home.)

CSI: The Experience, eh? *shiver* Intriguing indeed, but I don't think I'd eat directly beforehand.

Can't wait for the report on that one! :-)

Well the exhibit says its appropriate for kids 12 and older, so I don't think it will be that gruesome.

The color photographs in my Criminal Investigations textbook, however, are hard to look at--especially when I'm trying to read the book while having breakfast. At least it's only still photographs and not video, or actual bodies....

Thanks. It's times like this I feel, though, like my life is like a circus act. This goes under the flying trapeze part. My childhood was mostly the wild animal trainers.
