Technically I can sew, but....
Jan. 25th, 2011 10:39 amI was amused by all the comments on my last post regarding the pants that need to be shortened, and pleased to see that virtually all of you knew that if I tried to wear them without hemming I was likely to injure myself. My preferred option would be to have a tailor hem them, but there's a minimum week turnaround and I can't wait that long.
I know how to sew, but blind hemming is a pain, especially on this type of lightweight fabric. That said, it's needle and thread time rather than hem tape. Hopefully I'll be able to get away with using the existing hem as a baseline and doubling it up. Anything more complicated is going to make me cranky.
Of course estimating proper hem length is tricky in a house where the only mirror is on the cabinet above the bathroom sink, but if I use existing pants as a baseline I should be okay. Hopefully.
