Musings on the ur-project
Jun. 4th, 2010 10:32 amWe're not quite ready to release the contributor's list for the AFTER HOURS: TALES FROM THE UR-BAR anthology, but last night as we went through the author bios, we did a headcount and found a surprising fact. We knew that the anthology was tilted towards female contributors but the final ratio is 2:1 in favor of the women, higher than we'd expected.
The original invites were sent to a small group of authors, and as we recall the invitees were fairly evenly divided between male and female authors. The list of authors who agreed to participate was skewed female, then after dropouts and one final addition, we wound up with our 2:1 ratio.
Given that theme of the anthology is stories set in or around bars, I'm a bit surprised by the results. Of course it's impossible to draw any meaningful conclusions from a sample size of one, so we'll need to edit several more projects before we can establish if this is statistically significant trend :-)
