Mar. 7th, 2010 10:28 pmWeekend got off to a good start with the Friday night writers gathering. Everyone had produced pages, though I was the winner with four chapters.
Saturday bright and early Josh (
jpsorrow) and I headed down to Brooklyn to hang out with Sam (
scbutler) and Susan (
susanjett) for a Lord of the Rings marathon, watching the extended DVD versions of all three movies back to back to back, breaking only long enough to change the DVDs. There was much snacking, rabbit stew made by Sam, and all the sugar one could want--toll house cookies (me), brownies (Josh) and homemade strawbery shortcake (Susan). Their dog Nellie declared me the best spare human ever after I fed her pieces of bread dipped in rabbit stew.
True geeks, the four of us enlivened the movies with various quips and random trivia. There was an interesting split when it came to the female characters--Josh and Sam preferred Eowyn to Arwen, while Susan and I were in the Arwen camp.
We finished the marathon around midnight at which point we toddled off to bed, but not before I came up with the concept of "single purpose eagles." see eagle sidebar.
This morning we hung out chatting and the hours literally flew by until we looked up and realized it was nearly two in the afternoon. It was only the thought of everything we needed to do today to be ready for the work week that finally made us say goodbye and head back to Binghamton.
