Weekend roundup
Feb. 28th, 2010 06:55 pmOverall a productive weekend, as I wrote over five thousand words on the new project. I really like how it's shaping up.
Went to the bookstore today--I haven't hit any of the winter cons which has meant no trips to Larry Smith's table, and with fireun's bookstore closed I've lost my personal alert service. Scored a number of new titles that I hadn't realized were out, including Juliet E. McKenna's BLOOD IN THE WATER, Seanan McGuire's A LOCAL HABITATION, Rob Thurman's ROADKILL, and first time novelist James Knapp's STATE OF DECAY. No idea when I'll find time to read these, but I did give myself permission to set aside the novel that I've been reading since the beginning of February. Having been stuck at the same spot for nearly three weeks, it's time to acknowledge that I'm never going to finish it and move on.
And in the last bit of good news, THE LOST DOG CAFE reopens tomorrow! Closed since mid-January when a burst water pipe poured ten thousand gallons of water through the restaurant, my Saturday's just haven't been the same. When I go there, I'm going to have to resist the urge to hug the building (and all the staff.)
Now I need to see about dinner. And laundry. And getting to bed at a reasonable hour, since I've got a 6:30 AM start tomorrow.
