And they're off!
Aug. 24th, 2009 09:11 amSaturday was the long anticipated wedding of Jennifer and Jonathan. It was non-stop chaos from the moment I arrived Thursday afternoon, and I spent days running folks hither and yon. The wedding service itself was nice, and very much J&J--how often do the petitions include a prayer for a new monetary system that promotes social justice?
Then picture time--including a few of the bridal party flashing the Vulcan salute.
With typical Jennifer luck, the pouring rain hit as we were all in the limo, instead of 5 minutes later when we would have been standing outside for pictures in the country club gardens.
I didn't relax until I hit the reception, where Josh greeted me with the promised glass of wine to get my evening started. Our table was declared the cool kids table--four of the eight of us were writers, including Jonathan's best man Graham Green.
I had a good time, and then Josh, Tom and I returned to the hotel where I drank more than I should, and Josh proved the bestest of roommates.
Somewhere out there are pictures of me wearing a bridesmaid's dress, with professionally done makeup and hair. I'm sure jpsorrow will get around to sharing at least one of these. All in all not a bad look, but I'd have rather gone in a Transformers costume. I've already promised the dress to my nieces for dress-up.
Jennifer started the first day of her married life by returning to her parents' house to do laundry :-) But today she's more than making up for the prosaic start as she and Jonathan head off on a 3-week honeymoon, flying to Italy and then cruising the Mediterranean. Meanwhile, for us lesser mortals, it's Monday and back to work.
