Muppets Take Manhattan
Feb. 8th, 2009 08:47 amTom's niece is on a college co-op internship in New York city, so yesterday we went down to see her. We took her out to a nice vegetarian restaurant for brunch, then spent most of the afternoon wandering around SoHo shopping, followed up by a couple of glasses of wine in the bar of an Italian restaurant which morphed into staying there for dinner. Had a nice meal, then we dashed to catch bus home, while she rendezvoused with her friends.
Rules for being an uncle without children of your own appear to be much the same as being an aunt--take the kid out, spoil her a little and return her in roughly the same condition as you found her. As a side bonus, no actual cities were harmed.
I'm not much of a one for shopping, but Mac was a really nice kid, and it was fun to do something totally different. Although it was a bit weird to be in New York knowing that ComicCon was happening.
