Chicken pox for the win
Feb. 2nd, 2008 07:27 pmLast night the usual suspects came over for game night. There's nothing like a group of writers to enliven playing "Apples to Apples." We quickly learned that you needed both eloquence and knowledge of the judge's personal biases.
Flipper was the obvious winner for the "Squeaky Clean" prompt, although in other cases the winner was the least obvious choice rather than the most. I was proudest of my win for "Cowardly" for which I submitted Chicken Pox. As I explained, "You can have your smallpox and your cowpox, but out of all the poxes, the Chicken Pox is the coward of the lot."
Alas the rest of this writer's life is less glamorous. There were galleys to look at, I fiddled with marketing materials wondering why it's easier to write an entire scene than it is to sum up a book in a mere 150 words, and made periodic trips down to the basement to check to see how much water had seeped in. And the score as of this evening is: Galleys: in progress, to be finished Sunday. Marketing materials: suck and will attempt again. Basement: maximum water was small puddles, now gone.
And now it's time to get ready for Torchwood. Going to rewatch last week's episode (guest starring Spike!), and then watch the new one.
ETA: Minor episode spoilers for Torchwood S2Ep2 and Doctor Who in comments.
