The galleys for THE FINAL SACRIFICE arrived yesterday. Yes, I've done this before, but it's still a great feeling to see the words that I labored over in book format. I flipped through the galleys at random, read a few sentences, and squealed "Hee! I wrote this!"

Then I put them away, not wanting to spoil my enjoyment with the discovery of the inevitable typos. But I know what I'm doing this weekend....

Last night I attended the first session of Spanish for Travelers, taught by the continuing education arm of Binghamton University. The class was advertised as appropriate for high school students as well as adults, so I was a bit curious over the mix of students who'd sign up. Turns out my fellow students are all adults--I'd guess the youngest was around 30. Some plan to travel to Spain or Latin America, while others appear to be taking the course for job related reasons. My friend Tom and I are taking the class under the "just because" category.

And for those who have wondered about the show DEXTER but don't get Showtime-- CBS has picked up the first season to fill in gaps left by the writers' strike. Obviously substantial edits will be made for language and violence, but since the original Showtime episodes ran about 55 minutes, and network TV is closer to 42, they've got plenty of room to make cuts. First episode is scheduled for Sunday February 17th. I'll probably watch, just so I can see how they've changed it.
